Nuggets of Inspiration: No Pain No Gain

Frank Tibolt writes in his poem “Success begins in a person’s thoughts; it’s all in the state of the mind. Think big and your deeds will grow, think small and you’ll fall behind”. In other words, when we have a right perception and a strong belief (pinjam sikit idea salah seorg rakan sekerja SAM…hehe) that we can do or achieve something, we surely will. The history of existence and establishment of our precious SAM itself is just the right instance of the reality of this notion. It began from a person’s thought, and then it grew bigger and stronger when a few other thoughts supported and in line with the first thought. Those thoughts consequently prompted our multi-gifted and well-experienced ‘Tekong’ (proud to have him as our leader here, not forgetting all the committed staffs of SAM as well) to translate them into an authentic action which led to the successful birth of SAM. It maybe sounds too simple but I believe it was not that easy. There must be somehow a couple of ‘pain’ behind the scene in a sense that everyone involved had invested a whole lot of time, energy and commitment (ada yg hanya sempat tidur 2-3 jam dlm sehari…I really salute them!) just to ensure that their dream or perhaps I should say OUR dream came into a reality. Uniquely enough though, we are geographically working at different sites and locations but united with one goal, one heart and one passion which is to see and to inspire development and holistic upgrading – physically, mentally and spiritually – of our very own people. Back to my real agenda…hehe…yes, you’re right! No pain no gain. Many of us have been conditioned to believe that easy is best. If something is tough, requires hard work or takes a long time, many people run and hide! For instance, why would we waste energy to stand up to change channels when it’s a lot easier to just use the remote control, right? In this so called information technology era, most children today are surrounded with conveniences that help to perpetuate the ‘easy is best’ mindset. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not against these conveniences. What I’m trying to say is that don’t let these things control and ruin our psychology. Back in the old days – at least 25 years back…I’m talking about KM and not other places – we children were alien to these conveniences as of today. We walked – sometimes barefoot, without a penny and unprotected from the UV light – to school. We had no computer, not even a TV set of our own. We learned life through hard and tough experience in poverty. And with all those inconveniences we were better trained and motivated to gain success no matter what pain would we endure through the process. This kind of spirit should be continuously adopted and fostered by our young generation of today if we want to be outstanding and achieve something extraordinary in our lives. Be willing to work hard. Be smart enough to manipulate pain not as a destructive hindrance but as an instructive element to escort you to the path of success. In all your undertakings be willing to sacrifice – if necessary – for the best. Students, for example, concentrating and studying would earn A’s and B’s, but it means ignoring all the fun things you could be doing right now. That’s a sacrifice. Don’t ‘settle’ for just passing grades. Be motivated to endure whatever ‘pain’ in order to reach something beyond the average. Think BIG. Be diligent and hardworking! Begin it today. It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can start now to begin learning how rewarding and exhilarating it can be to shoot for something big BUT with one condition: Accept and face whatever pain you may encounter along the path because NO PAIN NO GAIN. ….to be continued…

I’ve just finished reading a book entitled ‘THINK BIG’ by Bill Zanker and Donald Trump (Host of the reality TV show ‘The Apprentice) couple of weeks ago. For someone to achieve something big, first, one must think big.

Don’t waste your energy by shrinking your brain to think in small scale because no one can stop you from dreaming and wanting something big. Even if it sounds impossible (maybe to others), but does it matter?

The whole brain inside your skull is all for you use it. Why waste it? So, follow this advice; if you want to think something, think big! Hee…

Tompinai, sdr telah menggunakan teropong minda dengan baik sekali.

Jmimie (& Dr. Nelson), gud posting. no pain no gain. Other words/ simple equation; pain = gain. right? and their relation is : pain (P) is directly proportional to the gain (G). So? Think it...and think big (adapted fr Dr. Nelson).

Tiada kejayaan tanpa pengalaman yang memeritkan...

dalam mana2 tamadun ini adalah ASAS revolusi bangsanya...

Cita-cita luhur perlukan identiti pemikiran yg lebih besar. Lebih jauh ke hadapan... SAM juga sangat perlukan kredebilitas seumpama ini.
